Your team
You will be part of the Newsroom Division in the Directorate General Communications. Our Directorate General has around 250 staff communicating the official views of the ECB. We inform the public and the media about the ECB’s tasks, mission and organisation and keep staff up to date on internal and ECB-related topics.
The Newsroom Division is responsible for relations with traditional media, our social media channels and podcast, media monitoring and internal communications. We are currently working on making our communications more accessible to the general public and exploring new ways to reach young people and women, particularly through our digital channels.
In your role as a trainee, you will be part of the Digital Content team of six members of staff. The team is responsible for creating posts for the social media channels of the ECB and its top policymakers, drafting content for the ECB’s websites and producing The ECB Podcast. You will work closely with others in our Directorate General as part of cross-divisional teams handling strategic communication projects or urgent tasks.
The ECB is an inclusive employer and we strive to reflect the diversity of the population we serve. We encourage you to apply irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or other characteristics.
Your role
As a trainee in the Digital Content team you will:
- prepare content and film videos for the ECB’s social media channels;
- contribute to the team’s understanding of the social media landscape and identify the most effective channels for us to reach our target audiences;
- actively contribute to various ongoing projects, such as writing plain-language explainers for the web;
- help produce The ECB Podcast, drafting scripts and finding potential interviewees.
The position offers you excellent opportunities to create highly visible content about the ECB, monetary policy and banking supervision and to deepen your knowledge of these topics. You will work in a dynamic environment where you can learn from others, challenge yourself in new areas and use your initiative to implement new ideas. You will be part of a multicultural team that strives for continuous innovation to make a positive impact on the lives of European citizens.
Qualifications, experience and skills
Essential:
- a bachelor’s degree or higher in international relations, politics, economics, finance, journalism, communications, media studies, graphic design, psychology or another relevant field;
- strong presentation and writing skills, and the ability to make complex concepts easy to understand for the target audience;
- a sound understanding of the ECB and its main tasks, as well as a basic understanding of monetary policy, banking supervision and economics;
- experience in creating content for social media, including creating and editing video content;
- a good understanding of current trends in digital communications;
- a good knowledge of the MS Office package;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages...
You are curious and eager to learn, and want to further develop your ability to analyse complex information. You are keen to collaborate with others, pursue team goals and learn from other people’s diverse perspectives. You strive to know and anticipate stakeholder needs, and will signal any need for change and propose alternative solutions.
You are motivated to contribute to the ECB’s mission, to serve the citizens of the EU as a member of a public institution and to work with colleagues from all over Europe. You are keen to be part of our team and to use your skills and competencies to achieve the aims of this position.
